Toolbar

DGT-OmegaT comes with a toolbar, enabling to access the most frequently used features using an icon as an equivalent to menus.

Here is the toolbar:

Note for developpers : This is a plugin which can be downloaded here [source / binary] and has also been sucessfully tested with OmegaT 4 or 5.

Some buttons may appear grayed, with the same conditions as for the corresponding menu. Here is the list of available buttons and their meaning :

New project

Open existing project

Reload project

Close project

Undo

Redo

Search

In DGT-OmegaT, open window Search in project.
In OmegaT, opens search window (search in project or directory)

Go to previous segment

Go to next segment

Go to next untranslated segment

Insert match or selection

This option is specific to DGT-OmegaT and will be described later

Access to DocFinder

These options are parts of the plugin « DGT-Plugins ». They won't appear at all if you remove dgt-plugins.jar from the plugins directory.

Outside DGT they are always grayed because this is about access to internal resources.

Access to Quest

Euramis Concordance

Access to IATE

These options are also parts of « DGT-Plugins », they don't appear if you remove dgt-plugins.jar; however, unlike the previous ones, they are usable from outside, but with a different behaviour.

Hello,

Thanks for opening your OmegaT enhancements, all of them provide nice enhancements to the application!

I updated the toolbar to use more "neutral" icons and to be more easily customizable with a configuration file. Are you interested in integrating this patch? If so, how do you want me to send it to you, I didn't succeed cloning the Git repository.

Thanks,
Briac

Hi Briac

Note for everybody : more detailed answer sent as private e-mail. Here I try to keep it shorter.

About the Git you are true, this was my fault, I had published only a Git for the core application, not for plugins. It should work now.
In any case, this Git is read-only. If you want to send contributions, you should register in the forge (available from here) and send code reviews, or if they are too big, we will see how to do it by private e-mail.

About the fact to change the icons, personnally I have no opinion, in any case as I am not really the owner of the project, I cannot decide. Once you send to me the icons, I will send a copy to my clients and invite them to send their reaction to this web site as well.

About the possibility to make it configurable, yes, I suppose that everybody should agree. But before I can push your patch, I have to check one important point. You may have noticed that when you import the toolbar in another version of OmegaT, some icons are not here: that is because they are not in the toolbar itself, but in a separate plugin. So, I must first ensure that this mechanism - where a separate plugin can push additional icons to the toolbar - is still compatible after your modifications. If it is the case, then I totally agree.

Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against hackers?
I'm kinda paranoid about losing everything I've worked hard on.
Any tips?

Not sure I understand what you mean. DGT-OmegaT is a standalone application, which makes no interaction with the network (except for TeamBase which is a separate project) so I don't see how it could be "hacked".

About loosing data, we cannot guarantee that the application has no bugs (this is true for any application, but remember that when you use free software this is explicitely without any guarantee) but we correct them if you send a report.

Hello,

The download link is dead. Would this plugin still be available?

Thank you,
Rob

I just did the test and it is still available.

However, some users reported that they have problems with links containing port number such as http://185.13.37.79:8003/index.php/p/toolbar/downloads/10/ : this can be the case if you are behind a proxy which filters "non-standard" URLs.

If it does not work from your working place, can you try from home, where you can be pretty sure that you are not behind such a proxy? If you can confirm to me, that would mean that the problem is recurrent and that I must find a solution - but only if I am sure that this is the same problem.

Regards

Thomas

I will retry once I get home this afternoon.

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

Works like a charm. Excuse me for bothering you with something I could have easily figured out myself.

Have a nice weekend,
Rob

Hi Rob, no problem, thanks for the confirmation. I just added some info about this problem in the main page of the web site.

Regards, Thomas.
